There are many fascinating and exciting places to explore in Ontario. Many locations rich with history and mystery. On this day we were in St. Thomas, Ontario doing a little Urban Exploring of it rail-way heritage. Tragically the St. Thomas roundhouse was demolished about 25 years ago, a developer thought the property would be better suited for a strip mall, it never happened. What a waste of a fantastic opportunity to create a heritage site and museum.
Today all that remains are ruins and concrete foundation but sill very interesting to explore. As you wander around the field that is now overgrown with weeds you can find many traces of its railway past.
A satellite photo show how the site of the roundhouse location looks today.
Here is a photo of what the St. Thomas roundhouse and turntable looked like when it was in operation. Sorry but I am not sure the year this photo was taken.
